Coming soon! Site changes.

Like my garden, this website is developing over time.  Some things that seemed like a good idea at the time don’t quite work out as intended.  Other ideas don’t come to light until later.  Mistakes get made, and I don’t want anyone to be led astray by what they read here, as the web is already chock full of disinformation and misleading information.

With that in mind, I have created a new category called Site Change Notifications.  I have a few older posts I’ll dig up as time allows where I made later edits based on information learned after the post was created, and mark them with this new category when the changes are complete. Better forewarned than to lose something due to being lazy about double checking data–or at least look for any updates on said data down the road.

Hoo boys–first frost possibly earlier?

My partner is home and among other topics we discussed, one was first frost date for this year.  My printed copy of 2018 Farmer’s Almanac had Worcester as the closest city listed, and that was said to be happening on October 19th which I just recently added to our planting page.  (Which I will note the change on after I post this.) Rainy day, transplanted the pumpkin and corn seedlings

I hadn’t even given a thought as to whether some kitchen garden plants might suffer from being started indoors.  Then I found a list that went into some examples of what is ok, what isn’t ideal, and what not to start indoors.  As I scanned the list, then I started worrying about the corn in particular.

My suspicions of corn was confirmed when I worked it out of the pot and the kernal was still attached.
Concerned about further harm, I planted them this morning during a break in the rain.
