Growing in Gardner

Maybe it will be friends with me?

Month: March 2019

Making our 2019 seed list–part 2

Notice: I’m a bit tuckered, but I want to get at least part of this out tonight, so I hope to post part 3 either late tomorrow or Monday.

My partner will swear to his death that he is a black thumb.  “If you want something to fail, let me plant it,” he says.  Continue reading “Making our 2019 seed list–part 2” →

Finally potted some spider plant bits.

Posted on March 16, 2019 by Lily

I think buried in one of the drafts I never finished last year was a mention that one of the folks I shared some day lilies with shared some spider plant bits with me. Continue reading “Finally potted some spider plant bits.” →

I moved the herb kit pots.

The spot on top of the microwave seemed to be in too indirect light to be of much use to the herbs.  Continue reading “I moved the herb kit pots.” →

What’s taters, precious?

Posted on March 13, 2019 by Lily

One of the potatoes that ended up in our kitchen decided it wanted to be more than just part of an immediate meal on the table.  So instead of cutting out the numerous eyes, I let them be and gave it a home. Continue reading “What’s taters, precious?” →

Hockey puck soil.

Posted on March 12, 2019 by Lily

This wide collective of folks from Gardner and beyond met today for the first meeting towards planning a community garden here in Gardner. Unfortunately, I was a wee bit late and missed the opening intros, but it seems the meeting was directed by one of the folks from Growing Places. Continue reading “First Community Garden meeting” →

Planted on 11th of March 2019

I’m working on a post about using the herb kit I hope to have up later tonight, but in the meantime I did get the following planted today:

Yes, I was baking today, hence the butter being out.
I have no idea if this will yield anything or not.

Speaking of seed starting…

One of my neighbors stopped by today to ask if I wanted to look at a few things they were going to get rid of before they boxed them up to take them to a shop that puts sales proceeds towards helping a shelter.  A few things she mentioned grabbed my interest, so I said, “sure!” Continue reading “Speaking of seed starting…” →

Doing my level best…

I have been getting ready when I can to begin the indoor seed starters out of what we have so far already seed wise.  I hope to have at least four veggies in their starter pots by this time next week.  If I manage more–woo hoo! Continue reading “Doing my level best…” →
