As unbelievable as it seems to me, the Location finder on WP is still close with that same city, but wrong, as you can see how what’s listed below does not match the name of my site. Growing in Fitchburg doesn’t have quite the same ring to it, right? Continue reading “Two solid weeks of “I don’t live there””

The other bits that help the garden grow.
Site Change: Critters Page added.
As promised, I’ve added the Critters Page. I started off with a “off the top of my head” list, and as time allows I will add more. Continue reading “Site Change: Critters Page added.”
Day 3 of a different “I don’t live there”
Today is now the 3rd day that when I try to use the “Get current location” feature under “More Options” on WordPress, it is trying to say I am somewhere else (Fitchburg). Unlike before, this mistake is closer in real distance, but it’s still wrong. I’ll report back when it rights itself again.
Site Change: Added new pic to “Friends?” – taken Friday
I finally remembered to take another pic of the view across the rear yard for my Friends? page last Friday. Then I forgot to post it.
This weekend has been rough, for reasons good and bad I’ll post about as time permits.
Notices given on this rainy Friday night
I am sleep deprived between staying up all night for yesterday’s two monarch butterflies, not being able to fall asleep later until that late night, and then again further when my partner woke me up at 6am to let me know the next two were well on their way out too. I hope to write about today tomorrow afternoon or so after some more sleep.
I also have a pumpkin update I will post about sometime this weekend.
Possibly some other pictures too.
Guardianship update: 16th August 2018 #2
I fretted a lot overnight. I kept checking the monarch disease pages, dismissed OE and pondered “black death” after one older site pic I found that had a pure black chrysalis. Nope…nope…behold!
What a difference! Continue reading “Guardianship update: 16th August 2018 #2”
Note to Future Me #6
Remember those images of the shade changes in the backyard we took last year in mid May after reading about how useful it is to understand which parts of a garden is shaded or not, and when? They were then filed away in the “Progress” folder, and I only found them again this year while hunting for an older picture. Here’s a refresher in case you forgot again: Continue reading “Note to Future Me #6”

If I had a nickel for every time I’ve seen a plant labeled “perennial”… Continue reading “If I had a nickel…#1”
Really? Those are easy to grow!
When our soybeans failed to even break ground this year, it never occurred to me to go back and ask for a chat with the person that had told me before I’d planted them, “They’re so easy to grow!” I never thought to ask questions that might help me learn even one of the possible differences between gardens. We just blamed ourselves. I assumed it was critters because of all the disturbance we’d had in the soil, my partner blamed his black thumb since he was the one that put the seeds in the ground. Today, I had the ah-ha moment, which led to my writing this. Continue reading “Really? Those are easy to grow!”
