Since it seems like the weather really isn’t going to give up the below freezing nights consistently anytime soon, I thought maybe it was time to give up fantasies of putting some things in the ground, and pulled out ye olde bag of last year’s leftover potting soil.
That’s when I realized the bag wasn’t sealed up properly on one end. When I started scooping out dirt for the first pot, that not quite right odor drifted across my nose.
And now I need to find that web page I bookmarked for sterilizing dirt by baking it.
Given how poorly some of these bulbs and pips were stored for too long, they don’t need any additional hazards attacking them before maybe they even considering trying to grow.
I’ve never done this before. I hope it goes well.
